A long-distance regatta brings with it other challenges in addition to the regatta tasks, including for the crew of the Pogo 44. Nils Leiterholt, who has been sailing himself since he was a child, was allowed to sign on for a report on the "Hotte". It was his first ocean race lasting several days, so he had to adapt to some new tasks such as night watch duty. The 20-year-old reports on the hurdles, the cohesion of the crew around skipper and owner Thomas Breuer and the navigational decisions that had to be made.
What is it actually like to spend several days on board with a foreign crew? What freedoms do you have as a volunteer at YACHT? These are not the only questions you will get answers to in the episode "On board at Rund Skagen - with Nils Leiterholt". You'll find out what it's like to sail on a Pogo 44 for four days straight and why the regatta was ultimately a valuable experience for Nils. He also reveals how he will prepare the story for the magazine and why the job at YACHT is the right one for him.
