The lanes for Olympic and international classes change from time to time. The hotel area is used for TV broadcasts.
No sailing series is as diverse as Kiel Week. Dinghies, big boats, windjammers and navy cutters start. But who sails where? An overview.

Wherever you look during these nine days from 21 to 29 June: boats everywhere! Foiling windsurfers, speeding Olympic skiffs and international dinghy classes, together with sports boats, sea-going keel yachts, traditional ships and navy cutters, provide a reflection of the sailing sport of yesterday, today and tomorrow. It's good to keep an overview of the colourful hustle and bustle.

The heart of sailing is the Kiel-Schilksee Olympic Centre. This is where most of the yachts are moored in the harbour and where sailors and fans meet. Sailing takes place - a historic record - on a total of 14 courses! Long distances for the big boats lead all the way to Langeland.

Right in front of the harbour entrance to the Olympic Centre is the Hotel TV course, where the Olympic and international classes will rotate at the start. The races are shown on large screens in the Olympic Centre and in Kiel as well as via www.kieler-woche.de live around the world. Decisions about which classes will compete on which courses on which day are made on a daily basis depending on the wind and waves.

A special feature of the 131st Kiel Week is the iQFOil windsurfers' action centre on the eastern shore. Their centre is located on Stein beach next to the Tatort Hawaii Surf Café. This is where the last-chance qualifier for the iQFOiL World Championship takes place during Kiel Week. Anyone staying at Marina Wendtorf will be very close to the Olympic windsurfing sport on foils. Spectators on land will also have the best view of the Olympians and up-and-coming talent from the pier in Stein from 21 to 25 June.
