Russell Coutts declares Naples to be his favourite spot for the America's Cup 2007

Alinghi skipper pushes ahead and then pulls back again: "It's not up to me!". Six months before the victorious Swiss team Alinghi with its boss Ernesto Bertarelli and managing director Michel Bonnefus want to officially name the next venue for the America's Cup, skipper Russell Coutts addresses the public via the press.

He explains that Naples is his dream location and the gulf is perfect for hosting the event. The harbour of Bagnoli was also worthy of hosting the event. "For me, Naples has the same importance as Lisbon," he told journalists in Paris. "If it were up to me," said Coutts, "I would have the Cup sailed here."

But Coutts alone cannot decide where the 32nd America's Cup will be held. Coutts believes that by the end of July, only the two cities mentioned will still be in contention. Now the whole world is puzzling over the sense and nonsense of such announcements. That he can do that, Coutts.
