Briton Chris Law skippers for the South African AC team in the Congressional Cup Match Race

The America's Cup team Shosholoza, supported by T-Systems, is helping out British match racer Chris Law with a crew in the concessional match race. The 52-year-old has been training with the South Africans in Cape Town and will start with them off Long Beach.

Law was runner-up in the world rankings in 1999, a four-time member of the British Olympic team and involved in three America's Cup projects. "The boys have been invited by Chris to sail for him in the Grade 1 match. He will only be sailing this event with our crew," explains Tim Kröger to avoid any misunderstandings.

"He has no further connection to us and is not involved with us as a coach or anything else. Nothing else is planned for the future."
Russell Coutts, Chris Dickson and Dean Barker are expected at the Congressional Cup (11 to 16 April).

Law helps the South African Ian Ainslie with the introduction to the art of match racing, after Geoff Meek had previously steered the Cupper from Cape Town.

Ainslie, who is not related to his famous namesake from England, took part in the Olympic Games three times for his country in the Finn dinghy and was ranked in the top ten of the world rankings for four years.

He is to take the helm himself for the first time in a high-quality race at Match Race Germany in May.
