Another reorganisation has taken place at United Internet Team Germany (UITG). While Eberhard Magg, Head of Technology, was removed from the operational business last week, Marcus Schaps has now handed over the management of the PR department.
On the UITG website it sounds like this: "For the final spurt of preparations for the 32nd America's Cup races in 2007, the management of the United Internet Team Germany has been strengthened. Michael Mronz has been appointed as a new member of the Management Board of Deutsche Challenge 2007 AG as of 1 January 2007. He will be in charge of the newly created Press, PR and Marketing department for the first German campaign in the world's most important sailing competition.
Together with his Cologne agency team, Mronz will manage the marketing of the German team and further increase its public presence.
"I'm looking forward to this task and would like to help get sports fans in Germany and around the world even more excited about the United Internet Team Germany, sailing and the America's Cup," says the 39-year-old PR professional. Among other things, Mronz organised the World Equestrian Games in Aachen this year with great success.
In future, Mronz and the team at his agency MM Promotion will bundle and expand the entire spectrum of public relations and marketing activities that were previously carried out by employees of the main sponsor United Internet AG in addition to their day jobs.
United Internet CEO Ralph Dommermuth thanks those previously responsible for press, PR and marketing: "I would like to thank Eva Heil and Marcus Schaps, who came on board in stormy seas in addition to their original duties as Managing Director of GMX and Head of Press and Public Relations at United Internet AG respectively. I am delighted that both of them can concentrate on their core tasks again and that in Mronz we have found a manager with whom we can enter the final spurt as a United Internet team."
Marcus Schaps will gradually hand over his responsibilities to Michael Mronz and his team by the end of January 2007 and will then remain Head of Press and Public Relations at United Internet AG as the contact person for all matters relating to the main sponsor of the United Internet Team Germany campaign and its CEO Ralph Dommermuth.
The team's previous Head of Marketing, Eva Heil, will once again concentrate fully on her role as Managing Director of GMX GmbH."
