The organisers of the next America's Cup have removed Palma from the list of venues

Palma, one of the supposed top favourites, has been removed from the list of possible venues for the 32nd America's Cup. Lisbon (POR), Marseille (FRA), Naples (ITA) and Valencia (ESP) are still in the running.

"It was important for us to reduce the list to one city per country," explains Michel Bonnefous, head of America's Cup management. "There were only two applicants from Spain. Palma and Valencia are strong contenders, but we believe that Valencia has more potential."

Bonnefous has not yet commented on the exact reasons. The final decision is expected to be made by 15 December.
