The America's Cup enters a new round with the first act of the World Series this weekend off Portsmouth: six foilers in the fleet race

Although sailing for the jug itself will not take place until 2017, the starting shot for the "warm-up round", the AC World Series, will be fired this weekend off Portsmouth.

Six teams will compete against each other in Fleetraces on Saturday and Sunday, including Cup defender Oracle Team USA. The other teams: Artemis Racing (Sweden), Emirates Team New Zealand, Groupama Team France, Landrover BAR (Great Britain) and Softbank Team Japan.

For the first time, the event will be sailed on hydrofoils. The AC45 catamarans, which were already used in the World Series of the last Cup, were modified and fitted with L-shaped centreboards.

The forecast promises winds of between 15 and 20 knots, ideal conditions for a spectacular air show. However, this time watching will not be as favourable as at the last Cup. German broadcasters have apparently not yet acquired the rights. The only option for German fans is to use the "America's Cup" app, in which the AC+ module can be purchased as an in-app purchase for 7.99 euros. This app then provides access to the live images and extended content. The app can also be downloaded via the Website of the organiser are activated, then the images also run on the computer monitor.

Depending on the contractual situation, the races are shown on TV on private channels or free channels in various countries. Some of these can be accessed via the internet or satellite. Here is the complete list of countries and channels
