Defender Oracle Team USA and the five challengers will meet for the first time this year in Oman. Although it is only a preliminary skirmish for the actual 2017 Cup, it will be sailed "only" on spruced-up AC45 catamarans, which have little in common with the actual Cup cats apart from the fact that they foil.
However, as the three events of the 2015 world series have shown, we can still expect very exciting, action-packed races. There will be five stops on the tour this year: Oman, New York, Chicago, Portsmouth and Toulon.
All races can be watched live via smartphone or tablet on the App AC+ can be followed via internet stream. However, each event costs 7.99 US dollars and a season pass for all events costs 24.99 dollars.
But Cup fans can also get their money's worth free of charge. The Austrian channel Servus TV broadcasts the races in Oman live, and there is also a free internet live stream with commentary from catamaran specialists Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher. Servus TV can be received in Germany via DVB-T, cable, satellite and IPTV.
The races start on Saturday and Sunday at 2.00 pm local time in Oman (GMT+4), i.e. 11.00 am German time. Servus TV will be broadcasting from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm.
