Russell Coutts and the Golden Gate Yacht Club confirmed the announcement yesterday, Monday. After 2003 and 2007, Vincenzo Onorato's team will be the challenger in the America's Cup for the third time.

In a press release, Russell Coutts promised that neutral management and an independent jury would be appointed for the next Cup: "I think it's important for all participants to know that the rules are fair and equal." Marcus Young, President of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, also announced close cooperation with the Italians "to help the America's Cup regain its prestige".

Meanwhile, Club Nautica di Roma has not yet made an official statement on its participation. However, it is interesting to note that these two teams would also be competing against the main sponsors BMW and Audi.
