The Cup test foiler on land
A boat has appeared in Ben Ainslie's British Cup team, which is immediately the subject of wild rumours

The photos first appeared on the Facebook page of "The Foiling Week". You can see a boat based on the potential America's Cup team of Ben Ainslie in Portsmouth, which is already very reminiscent of the previous computer animations of the new Cup foiler.

According to the comments below the article, it is said to be a converted Quant 28 by the Briton Hugh Welbourn, who fitted this boat with the so-called DSS (Dynamic Stability System) as horizontal buoyancy wings.

Allegedly, the boat is due to undergo its first capsize tests, which is supported by the buoyancy bodies in the masthead. However, it is still unclear whether this is a real test platform from the British team, as there are no comments from the team as yet. However, it would comply with the rules, as test boats for the upcoming Cup are not allowed to be longer than twelve metres.

However, it would also not be surprising if it were a diversionary manoeuvre. After all, anything is possible in the America's Cup...
