The elimination of the challengers is scheduled to start in July 2013 off San Francisco, followed by the matches for the jug in September

It had been clear since September last year that the Cup would take place in 2013. The venue, San Francisco, was confirmed on New Year's Eve. Now the last outstanding point has been clarified.

The spectacle is set to begin on 13 July 2013 in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. The challengers will then start the Louis Vuitton Cup, named after the sponsor. How long this elimination round will last depends on the number of participants. So far there are said to be six, but it is still unclear whether they will all be able to start, as very few of them have funding.

The winner of this round will then be the challenger and will sail for the Cup against Oracle Racing from 7 to 22 September. Nine races are planned; whoever wins five first is the Americas Cup winner.

From the middle of this year, the AC 45 will already be sailing on the training boats. The first aerial photos of the catamaran have just been published, which clearly show the extreme angles of attack and profiles with which such a wing sail works.
