Excerpt from the analysis of the wing rigs
French sailing journalists François Chevalier and Jacques Taglang have analysed the wing rigs of the Cup rivals

François Chevalier and Jacques Taglang are well known for their detailed cracks and illustrations of famous sailing yachts. In her blog they have now analysed the wing rigs of three of the four Cup teams. The results reveal some astonishing differences.

The rig of defender Oracle Team USA, for example, has an adjustable flap behind the load-bearing front section to better control the gap between the front and rear wings.

The Emirates Team New Zealand rig, on the other hand, is very clearly structured, with a short front and long rear wing.

Artemis has so far experimented with two completely different rigs: a three-part rig that is even divided vertically into six segments. The second is more similar to that of the New Zealanders.

François Chevalier and Jacques Taglang go into more detail in her blog (English).
