- La Roche-Posay Racing secured third place despite capsizing twice; New Zealand’s Women & Youth Team narrowly won the junior classification.

America’s Cup: Luna Rossa dominate – the Azzurri get into the Cup spirit

- La Roche-Posay Racing capsized twice in 24 hours but still won two races, demonstrating the robustness of the AC40 foiler.
- Luna Rossa’s A-Team maintained its overall lead ahead of Emirates Team New Zealand with consistent results ahead of Sunday’s final.

America’s Cup: A rollercoaster ride for the French – from victories to capsizes

- After two races in Naples, Luna Rossa leads with a second and a first place, ahead of Emirates Team New Zealand and ARC Team USA, in challenging light-wind conditions.
- Tudor Team Alinghi has improved from 9th place in the first race to 2nd in the second and is almost neck and neck with Luna Rossa in terms of average speed.
- The La Roche-Posay Racing Team capsized spectacularly following a false start manoeuvre, but reports that it is learning from the experience and is ready to fight in the coming days of racing.

America’s Cup: Capsize at the start! Shock for the French at the opening race in Naples

- From 25 to 27 September, nine crews will be sailing AC40s in the Gulf of Naples; eight fleet races plus a match racing final between the top teams are scheduled.
- GB1 collided with a support boat during training, damaging a foil; they received a replacement from Alinghi and are continuing their preparations following the repair.
- The pre-regatta will provide an indication of performance levels and venue data for the 2027 America’s Cup; teams from New Zealand, Italy, GBR, FRA, SUI and the USA, amongst others, will be taking part.

America’s Cup: Nine crews, one black eye – the Naples show begins

- From 24–27 September, the second pre-regatta for the 38th America’s Cup will take place in Naples, featuring nine AC40 foiling boats.
- Several teams will be competing with two crews each, including Luna Rossa, Emirates Team New Zealand and INEOS Britannia; other teams are fielding one boat each.
- On 11 September, the America’s Cup documentary ‘Sail’, featuring IMAX footage and behind-the-scenes insights, will premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

America’s Cup: A mini Cup summit in Naples; ‘Sail’ makes its Venice debut

- Since 1851, the America’s Cup has been a challenge cup contested between yacht clubs, with the defending champion and a challenger always competing in a head-to-head race in the final.
- Technical developments have ranged from wooden schooners, through the J-Class, the Twelve, catamarans and foiling catamarans, to today’s flying AC75 monohulls.
- In 2027, Emirates Team New Zealand will defend its title in an AC75 off the coast of Naples; cost, crew and technical regulations are designed to limit campaign spending and increase diversity.

175 years of the America’s Cup: The 5 key facts about the greatest sailing rivalry

- Following summer training in Naples, Emirates Team New Zealand is testing the revised AC75 ‘Taihoro’ in Auckland for two weeks.
- The rules for the 38th America’s Cup are limited to 45 sailing days until January 2027 and permit only limited modifications rather than new AC75 hulls.
- The main aims of the updates are to reduce weight for earlier lift-off and to improve efficiency; the hydraulics are now standardised to be battery-powered rather than operated by grinders.

America’s Cup: Team New Zealand is back in Auckland

- The second pre-regatta for the 38th America’s Cup will take place off the coast of Naples from 24 to 27 September 2027, featuring nine teams competing in AC40s.
- The new American Racing Challenger Team USA, led by Ken Read and sailing director Giles Scott, will face established teams such as Luna Rossa and Emirates Team New Zealand.
- Regatta format: 24 September: training; 25–27 September: fleet races; one-on-one final; Race Village in Naples with free admission and a closed-off waterfront promenade.

America’s Cup: Naples Overture – Margherita, Capricciosa or Diavola?

- The 2027 Louis Vuitton Cup will begin with six fleet races involving all seven AC75s, followed by three round-robin stages comprising a total of 63 match races.
- The top three challengers will progress directly to the semi-finals, whilst those in fourth to sixth place will compete in a repechage for the final semi-final spot.
- The semi-finals and final of the Louis Vuitton Cup, as well as the America’s Cup match, will be contested in a best-of-13 format; seven wins are required in each.

America’s Cup: Challengers wanted – here’s how the Louis Vuitton Cup works

- France is making an ambitious start to the 38th America’s Cup with a revamped AC75 and a newly formed crew, some of whom are Spanish.
- A capsize of the AC75 off Lorient revealed systemic issues, but provided the team with valuable learning and test data.
- New foils, which are around 400 kg lighter, increase the risk of capsizing and require new reference points and more complex, yet still easy-to-operate, systems.

America’s Cup: Mission impossible? How Les Bleus are mounting another challenge

- The 38th America’s Cup will get underway on 10 July 2027 in the Bay of Naples for the first time; the defending champions are Emirates Team New Zealand.
- In the final year before the Cup, the teams are focusing intensively on boat speed, fine-tuning every detail and ensuring their crews are perfectly coordinated.
- Naples is preparing extensive race villages, spectator areas and media centres, and faces significant challenges in terms of traffic management and security.
