Enormous performance potential: the new "My Song" during initial test strokes

Her predecessor, the legendary 130-foot Baltic "My Song" owned by Pierluigi Loro Piana, fell off a freighter during a transport to the Caribbean in 2019. Now her successor has arrived, a little smaller but no less exciting: the new "My Song" is the first Club Swan 80 from Nautor's Swan and will compete for the first time at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup off Porto Cervo in Sardinia at the beginning of September this year against the strong competition from the exclusive maxi yachts. Following the success of the Club Swan 50, the introduction of the innovative Club Swan 36 and the completion of the breathtaking record-breaker Club Swan 125 "Skorpios", the new 80 is now the fourth model in Nautor's Swan's extremely ambitious one-design programme.

Based in Finland, the luxury brand remains in the hands of the Italian Ferragamo family. Vice President of the Nautor's Swan brand is Enrico Chieffi, a veteran and heavyweight on the international sailing scene for many years. He has brought together the most successful minds in the yacht building industry for the development of the new Club Swan 80, first and foremost the successful designer Juan Kouyoumdjian (Juan K. for short) from Argentina, who is already responsible for the designs of the previous models in the Club Swan range. Surprisingly, however, the Club Swan 80 is not being built by Nautor in Finland, but for the first time by the high-tech specialists at Persico Marine in Italy, entirely from carbon fibre using the latest and most innovative construction methods.

As a top design feature, the exciting racer is equipped with a canting keel, which is swivelled up 45 degrees to windward by powerful hydraulic cylinders. The draught of the tilt fin with lead bomb is an impressive 4.75 metres. A rotating canard rudder in front of the keel ensures course stability and better reactions when tacking and gybing. The extremely long bowsprit is at least partially retracted on the cross to prevent breakage in swell.

Of course, the owner decides what standard he wants the boat to have below deck. The "My Song" is dominated by a combination of a sober racer ambience with a carbon fibre look on the one hand and thoroughly homely elements on the other. Exciting: Most of the interior components are designed and constructed in such a way that they can be easily dismantled and removed from the boat for pure racing use in order to save weight. If the owner wants to use the boat for his own pleasure between regattas, the furniture can be returned to the boat.

After the trial runs with the first Club Swan 80, Nautor's Swan has now published the first photos. The following picture gallery provides fascinating views and insights.
