Maxi-Racer narrowly misses its record target/Regatta field waits for wind in the Kattegat

On the third day of the "Pantaenius Rund Skagen" regatta, the "Uca" was the fastest ship to reach the finish line. Unlike the majority of the fleet, it benefited from favourable wind conditions over the last few miles.

The 26 metre long boat from Kiel was able to take advantage of force 4 easterly winds on Wednesday and crossed the finish line at Kiel Lighthouse after just 43 hours and 59 minutes. However, the crew narrowly missed the speed record set in 2000. This is 43 hours and 46 minutes.

The trimaran "Fritzzz Fratzzz" was the second-fastest boat to enter the Kiel Fjord on Wednesday afternoon. The third boat to finish was the Grand Soleil 70 "Sinfonie Sylt" this morning (Thursday).

Things are looking less favourable for the remaining participants still in the Kattegat. In the calm, which has persisted since yesterday, they have little chance of finishing the race in a decent time. During the night, many boats anchored for a few hours, and four yachts even cancelled their sails completely due to the glassy seas.

The Skagen Round 510 nautical mile regatta marks the end of another successful North Sea week this year.
