All races were cancelled on Monday due to a lack of wind

On the third day of the 125th Kiel Week, the calm came. After four hours of waiting, head of organisation Jobst Richter decided that no races would take place on Monday.

"We had 1 to 3 knots, so you can't send sailors out on the water. Today everyone was only talking about the turning calm instead of the turning winds," says Richter. Weak winds are also forecast for Tuesday. One or two more races are needed before the final races on Wednesday with a striker (the worst result in five races can be cancelled).

The sailors took the decision fairly. "The organisers can't do anything about the wind. And the decision to cancel in good time was the right one, as the forecast was clear," said Achim Griese, who is leading the X-35 class in the Kiel Cup after three races. He will be competing for world championship points with the "Celox" from Wednesday.
