Sailing is booming! Not least because of the coronavirus pandemic, more and more people want to spend their free time or even their next holiday on the water. And many people still have a sailing licence somewhere in their drawer that they obtained a long time ago. So what could be more obvious thanto buy a boat and set sail!
But wait, how did that work again? And anyway, where do I get a boat and what should I look out for when buying and equipping one? What is the right sailing area for me? What do I need to consider when choosing a mooring? And where can I go on a charter trip to begin with?

100 pages of concentrated basic knowledge
The 100-page booklet covers topics ranging from buying a boat to choosing a sailing area, from checklists for test sailing to the right equipment, from costs for the boat, insurance and mooring to practical tips for sailing manoeuvres. The individual articles are organised under the six-partBeginner series that we have published since last autumn.
In March, we also organised a five-part webinar series with over 1,500 participants. TheWeb links to the recordings of these webinars are also included in the special edition.

Pascal Schürmann joined YACHT in Hamburg in 2001. As head of copywriting and head of the editorial team, he makes sure that all articles make it into the magazine on time and that they are both informative and entertaining to read. He was born in the Bergisches Land region near Cologne. He learned how to handle the tiller and sheet as a teenager in a touring dinghy on the Sneeker Meer and on a tall ship on the IJsselmeer.
