It is not uncommon for a restoration project to turn out to be a bigger task than initially expected. In such cases, exchanging ideas with experts is a great help.
The Freundeskreis Klassische Yachten invites all interested parties to an open exchange of experiences on 17 January in Hamburg

Next Friday, 17 January, the clubhouse of the Sailing Association Altona-Oevelgönne open to visitors to the 2nd edition of the "Hamburg Restoration Talks".

The organisers have this to say about the evening, to which non-members are also cordially invited: Following the well-attended kick-off event last November, the topic in January will be "Winter work in the underwater area". Two short presentations by experts from Pantera and Toplicht are being prepared as an introduction. Afterwards, the focus will be on exchanging experiences. All participants will have the opportunity to ask relevant questions about practical problems, present tried-and-tested solutions and share their experiences."

According to the FKY, the series of events is primarily aimed at owners who are carrying out, have carried out or are planning maintenance work, conversions and conversions, repairs or restorations on classic boats, but also at boat builders and specialised craftsmen, as many owners would also outsource the work to others.

Already a complete success

The circle of friends reports on the first restoration meeting:The kick-off event in November was attended by just under 40 people, around a third of whom were not from the immediate circle of friends. After a brief presentation of the event concept by the organising team, Sandra Clausen-Maerz and Carsten Maerz used a projector to report on the restoration of their boats - the pointed-rigged SY "INGELIL" and the 13-metre sea cruiser "STURMVOGEL", built in 1925 and well-known on the Elbe.

A series of questions relating to the core topic of maintenance and restoration emerged from the introductions of the participants, which were the subject of a lively exchange over drinks in the maritime ambience of the SVAOe clubhouse on the Elbe. Thanks to the enthusiastic contributions from experienced owners, boat builders and experts, many questions were answered straight away.
