Four North German clubs will start an open regatta from Kiel to Travemünde on 30 September. Several challenge prizes will be contested

For the tenth time, young sailors between the ages of 16 and 28 will be competing in the morning of 30 September in the open Long distance regatta Kiel - Travemünde which is organised by the Hamburgischer Verein Seefahrt, the Kieler Yacht-Club, the Lübecker Yacht-Club and the sailing club Das Wappen von Bremen.

The event is unique. Prospective skippers are given the opportunity to skipper a boat with a young crew, even if they have not yet completed all the necessary licences. The owners of the participating yachts each provide an accompanying person who fulfils these requirements.

Offshore youngsters

The event is based on a concept called Offshore Youngsters, a network for owners, clubs and organisations that are committed to promoting young sailing talent. After the regatta, the "Offshore Youngsters Autumn Tour" will be offered from this group. The aim is to give young sailors the opportunity to familiarise themselves with sea sailing on the participating boats.

In recent years, the regatta, which is held in autumn conditions, has already attracted fields of around 15 yachts, including the flagships of large clubs, but also private owners who have made their yachts available for the good cause.

Registration possible for all those interested in the regatta

You can register for the regatta via manage2sail take place: Interested crews who do not yet have any contact with boats or clubs should send an e-mail to liaison@hvs-hamburg.de
