Virtual sport is booming everywhere, including in sailing. Although the Pantaenius Rund Skagen Race did not quite reach the number of participants of two years ago, around 25,000, almost 17,000 participants are a strong number in times when people can sail in real life without worrying about corona restrictions.
For the first time, a separate YACHT group was also offered, a separate classification in which prizes totalling over 1,200 euros could be won.
Anyone who is now sad to have missed the start and thus supposedly have no chance can be comforted. It's not over yet. We have just tried it out. If you enter now, the programme will put you in 9,000th place overall, which is already midfield. In the YACHT ranking it would be around 760th place, which looks hopeless, but as the saying goes: a regatta is only over at the finish.
There are still very challenging conditions ahead of the fleet, with strong winds now around Skagen, followed by calm. So a lot is still possible.
If you still want to sail along, you can still log in at any time under VirtualRegatta. If you want to take part in the YACHT ranking, please use the code
Have fun and good luck!
