The popular classic regatta over Ascension Day has been cancelled twice, but can now be entered for the 20th time. The anniversary is to be celebrated in style next year

The Ascension weekend is finally here again. From 26 to 29 May, classic yachts will meet in Neustadt/Holstein for a regatta to commemorate Max Oertz, the great yacht designer whose birthplace still stands in the small town on the Bay of Lübeck. For the 20th time, traditionally built yachts will be at the start of the Max Oertz Regatta and the crews will have the opportunity to Land programme to be exchanged afterwards.

The event begins on 25 May with a party at the Schaich boatyard on Fehmarn (the former Martin shipyard formerly Beelitz). On Thursday, a feeder regatta will take place in Neustadt, where the fleet will be moored directly in the town harbour. In the evening, the participants meet for a get-together around the campfire. On Friday, up-and-down regattas will start after a joint breakfast, followed by an asparagus dinner in the evening. On Saturday, the Max Oertz Regatta will take place on the course and the evening will be dedicated to the award ceremony and regatta party.
