The saying that wooden boats are sailed by iron crews was true at this year's Max Oertz Regatta
The participants in the first classic regatta of the season had to contend with strong winds. Wolf Hansen was there for us with his camera

The weather forecast had long suggested that this might be the case, and yet numerous classic sailors came to Neustadt to take part in the traditional regatta in honour of the great German designer Max Oertz after a two-year break.

The field saw a wide variety of yachts and boats at the start, starting with the large twelve-oared "Anita", whose crew coped well with the weather and took first place in the overall standings. With "Rusalka" and "Rasmus", there were two 50cc sea cruisers at the start, which were also not much affected by the weather.

In addition to various cruiser yachts, there were also boats of the long and slim type, dragons, skerry cruisers, or simply smaller boats such as the Nordic folk boats and the creak boats, which were quite challenged by the conditions.

Our photographer Wolf Hansen has compiled the strongest pictures for you.
