The date for the Garmin Round Denmark Race 2022 has been set: The Aarhus inshore version of the popular Round Denmark Race for soloists, double-handed crews and teams is to take place between 18 and 25 June 2022. This will once again turn the Scandinavian classic into a summer sailing festival for lovers of Scandinavian waters. However, some of them will have to make a decision, as the Danish adventure clashes with the traditional time slot of Kiel Week 2022, which will also be competing for the favour of sea sailors from 18 to 26 June with various race formats, fun regattas and more.

In an initial preliminary announcement, the Round Denmark organisers led by driver Morten Brandt-Rasmussen confirmed that the solo sailors will also be sent into the race first next year - albeit with a smaller lead than this year, making a joint arrival more likely. The offshore version of the Denmark Sailing Rally, for which Bouwe Bekking and his team set a new record on the VO65 "Childhood II" in 2019, is still in the detailed planning stage.

The offshore variant will challenge its participants on a demanding course of around 780 nautical miles and will begin before the start of the inshore races so that these crews can also return to Aarhus in time for the grand festival finale on 25 June. "The start of the offshore race will therefore take place a few days before 18 June," according to a recent press release from the dedicated organisers. This means that inshore and offshore sailors can celebrate the "Saturday Night Afterparty" and the award ceremony together in the vibrant sailing city of Aarhus on 25 June.

The organisers have also announced further events: The premiere of the film "Garmin Round Denmak Race, Aarhus 2021" is scheduled for 22 October at the YouTube channel of the race (please click!) scheduled. The starting places for the race itself will be allocated from 26 November. On this "Black Friday", some starting places for soloists, two-handed teams and crews will be available at reduced costs for both the inshore and offshore versions. Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
