The blueribboncup is on the regatta schedule of the "Uijuijui" (Hausmann/NRV) every year
In its 25th year, the blueribboncup is travelling from Kiel to Aarhus for the first time. It is part of a large-scale sailing initiative in Kiel

With the Joint International German Youth Championship (10 to 16 August), the revival event "50th Anniversary of the Olympic Sailing Regattas off Schilksee" (17 to 21 August) and the blueribboncup (17 to 21 August), Kiel will be a sailing mecca for a second time two months after Kiel Week (18 to 26 June).

Launched in 1998, the blueribboncup travelled to Copenhagen in 2021 and once around Funen (2020) due to the pandemic. This year, Sailing Aarhus and the Aarhus International Sailing Centre are partners of the Kiel Yacht Club for the first time. The route covers around 150 nautical miles from the Bay of Kiel through the Little Belt and then east past Samsø on the outward journey to Aarhus. On the way back, the route can then go west of Samsø and through the Great Belt, so that the entire outward and return course resembles a figure of eight.

The blueribboncup is aimed at seagoing ORC club yachts, ORCi yachts and double-handed crews with a CDL of 8,000 (or higher). As in the previous year, the Dehler 30 one design has also been announced as a standardised class for full crews. The one-design class has once again included the blueribboncup in its offshore regatta calendar in 2022.
