They made it more than exciting! For Paul Kohlhoff and Alica Stuhlemmer, their medal race turned into a heart-stopping final: after a penalty curl shortly after the start, they had to fight their way back up from tenth place to make a medal position possible after all. The gap between them and the Australian team was wafer-thin at times.
However, the race to catch up was enough for an eighth place in the medal race and the bronze medal overall at these Olympic Games.
This means that the German sailors won three medals on Tuesday - never before in one day!
A background report on the sensational day of the German crews will follow this afternoon on YACHT online.
