Since yesterday, the winners on the lake course have been decided. The Norddeutscher Regatta Verein is in top form and is currently on course for the Champions League title

The Travemünde Week has barely started and the first crews are already celebrating. The winners of the up-and-down races on the sea course were crowned yesterday at the end of the opening weekend.

The crew of Jan Peters' Luffe 43/97 "Adamas" (Heiligenhafen) was able to cope with a slip-up at the end of the series for the sea sailors and still come out on top of the overall ORC standings. "We had a bit of bad luck in the final race, we got a wind shift wrong twice," reported Peters. With Björn Carstensen's Winner 900 "Pepper and Salt", there was also a winner in the yardstick yacht category from Heiligenhafen.

With almost 600 boats and almost 1,500 sailors from 26 nations, the Travemünde Week was opened on Friday evening for the first time in three years without corona precautions by Kristina Herbst, President of the State Parliament, and Jan Lindenau, Mayor of Lübeck. Visitors flocked to the festival mile, especially on the hot and sunny Sunday.

In addition to numerous cultural events for the whole family, show races are organised every evening on the Trave. The winner of the "Trave Races" in the Finn class on Saturday was Fabian Lemmel from Berlin.

He also leads the classification in the German Championship ahead of the Dane Otto Strandvig. In third place after a difficult start is Thomas Schmid from Hamburg, who can draw on four and a half decades of sailing experience. In 1988, he won the Finn Dinghy World Championship title in Brazil and sailed to sixth place at the Olympic Games.

The title at the German Open of the J/22 class was secured today in a thrilling final by Reiner Brockerhoff's team, who once again beat Holger Schmitt and his crew from Loheider See.

The German Dyas Championship starts on Thursday as part of the Travemünde Week. Arndt Fingerhut and Andreas Malcher have already sailed to victory in the North German Championship.

The team of Klemens and Gundi Kitzmüller won by a clear margin in the Hobie 16, while Tanja Rindt is also currently on course for the title in the European Championship for Hobie 14 cats.

In the Hobie 16 youth class, the Italians dominated the rankings, claiming first to seventh place. The situation is similar in the Hobie Dragoon, where the European Championship is still being contested until the day after tomorrow.

After one day, the French team Thomas Proust/Clement Martineau is in first place in the Formula 16 catamarans, ahead of their compatriots Michel Kermarec/Fanny Merelle and the Dutch sailors Robin and Sander Mineur.

The Folke boats also had their first regatta day today. Walther Furthmann and his team are currently four points in the lead.

With the league sailing, another highlight is back at the Travemünde Week - and not only with the First and Second Bundesliga next weekend. But also with the final of the Sailing Champions League. 36 teams from 19 nations will be sailing for victory until tomorrow. After 14 races, a tough battle has developed between the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein from Hamburg and the team competing for Finland.

The Hamburg team is currently in the lead, and if the NRV is able to maintain its top position, it would be the second Champions League victory for helmsman Chapman. Three years ago, however, the Australian won with his home club from Sydney.

In addition to an exciting Champions League final day, there are further highlights on the programme for the rest of the week, including the long-distance race and the third Bundesliga match day.
