Just last summer, she won Olympic silver in the 49er FX. Now Susann Beucke has her sights set on a new goal: the Vendée Globe. The 30-year-old sailor still has a lot of work ahead of her before she reaches it. She wants to get closer to her goal in France. She has chartered a Figaro there, is training there, is studying with like-minded people at a renowned school for promising regatta cracks and is taking part in her first regattas there.

YACHT author Andreas Wolfers visited Beucke on the Atlantic coast. He reports on the enormous challenges that the young German has to face at the training camp. He describes what drives her, who she works with, how she copes with setbacks and what gives her strength, courage and hope.

His insightful and exciting portrait of Susann Beucke can now be read in YACHT, issue 9/2022, available as a digital edition in the YACHT app and can be ordered directly here. Or you can download the portrait directly via the link below.
