Less than a year after finishing fifth at the Vendée, work on Boris Herrmann's new boat is in full swing. The German in an interview about the construction

It was actually supposed to be a joint visit with Boris to the Multiplast shipyard in Vannes, where his new boat is being built, but the coronavirus throws a spanner in the works at the beginning of December. The team wants to minimise outside contact because of the Omikron variant, as there is too great a risk that the visit could introduce the virus and force the entire construction team into quarantine.

And yet we get exclusive insights into the status of the construction work: The team manager takes us on a virtual shipyard tour of the project, which is still being kept top secret, and YACHT is allowed to take part in some technical Zoom meetings. And Boris exclusively explains the philosophy behind the project in a long interview: "Our boat will be radically different!" In fact, the team has taken an unusual approach, consistently tailoring the Open 60 to the conditions in the Southern Ocean. The secret: lots of keel jump.

The detailed story about the construction now in the new YACHT No. 2/2022
