The original cruise destination was the south, the dream was a long voyage. Anna Lange and Malin Knodel, two young women from Oldenburg, had finished their apprenticeships in retail and advertising and wanted to discover the world instead of starting full-time jobs.
Since life on the water promised adventure, the friends travelled on their old steel ship "Fiete", a Sneekermeer 800, which they had bought for 1,000 euros, on the inland waterway to the south of France in the summer of 2019.
She didn't really know how to sail - only Anna had spent some time on sailing boats with her grandparents as a child. And when the trip to the Mediterranean really got underway, "Fiete's" hull turned out to be dilapidated: water was leaking in.
Continuing with the old boat seemed too dangerous, a refit too expensive. The trip was about to be cancelled.
In an interview in YACHT 4/2022, the sailors explain how they have been able to continue their time-out adventure to this day and where their new dream destination lies. The booklet is available in DK-Shop available. Or you can download the article directly via the link below.
