The German 470 women Luise Wanser and Anastasiya Winkel put in a very special performance shortly before the end of their Olympic Games. They sailed to second place in the last race in light winds. Victory went to the Swiss team. The Germans moved up to 6th place in the overall standings.

In the race, they managed to prevail against a strong field. The boats were close together throughout the entire medal race. The places in the overall standings were reorganised at the last buoy. Poland's Agnieszka Skrzypulec and Jolanta Ogar managed to fight their way up to second place overall.

Despite a tenth place in the medal race, the gold medal was still up for grabs for Great Britain's Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre. Third place overall went to France's Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz.

The entire Medal Race - with commentary and in full length - is shown on the ZDF in its media centre. It will be available there for another week, until 11 August 2021.

As usual, YACHT reporter Tatjana Pokorny will be reporting in detail from Enoshima this afternoon.
