The best of the German Sailing Team are taking the opportunity to gain valuable experience for the 2024 Olympics at the Pre-Olympics. From 9 to 16 July, the nominees will take to the water in the Olympic sailing area off Marseille. A total of 265 boats and boards from 56 nations will be competing in ten Olympic sailing disciplines.
Many athletes have already been on site for some time and train in the conditions of the area. The test event is an important indicator of the level of training and comparison with the competition. After the end, there will still be just over a year until the 2024 Olympic Games open.
The German squad includes the Nacra 17 duo Paul Kohlhoff and Alica Stuhlemmer, who won the Olympic bronze medal in 2021. In addition, iQFoil world champion Sebastian Kördel is in the squad for the Pre-Olympics and is a very hot candidate for a medal. Kördel is one of the absolute world leaders in the Olympic windsurfing class.
The next major event on the road to the Olympics after the Pre-Olympics will be the World Championships in eleven sailing classes off The Hague. These will run from 10 to 20 August.
