Laser world champion Buhl is back at the top
It's the day to prove yourself for some, not least Laser World Champion Philipp Buhl. What's coming up, how things are going

Updated at 10 am German time!

Good morning from Enoshima! Here's an update from Tatjana Pokorny, who is following the matches live for us on site in Enoshima. The detailed background report will follow as usual in the early afternoon. So stay tuned!

Day 5 of the Enoshima Olympic regatta is underway, only the 49erFX sailors are off. Lutz/Beucke are using the lay day to make plans ashore on how to get back to the top. All five other crews in the German Sailing Team are challenged.

Philipp Buhlis fighting for a comeback into the top ten in 13th place after six races in races 7 & 8. He opened strongly:4th placein the first race of the day, and then things went even better with3rd place in the second race. This brings him toRank 7. He is currently 13 points away from bronze - not easy, but the last word has not yet been spoken.

Svenja Weger (17th after 6 WF) also sailed two races. With theIndividual placings 8 and 12the Laser Radial helmswoman has shown a solid performance and improved by 4 places in the overall ranking. She is currently inRank 13

The 470 womenLuise Wanser/Anastasiya Winkel after the shock of the double disqualification, which they are still contesting, had to really dig in in 19th place to get back to the front under the weight of the 2 x 22 penalty points. They did so impressively:5th place in the first race,4th place in the second. Wow! Total currently12.

The 49ers are sailing races 5 & 6 today (catch-up races).Erik Heil and Thomas Plößel were in 8th place after four races, but recovered this morning German time with thePlaces 3 and 4 in 5th place overall. The bronze medallists from Rio are therefore on course and in good spirits.

The best-placed German team before the start of the fifth day were the Nacra 17 artists, who got off to a brilliant startPaul Kohlhoff and Alica Stuhlemmer: twice3rd placetoday, and therefore alsoOverall rank 3. Cool!

As already mentioned: Tatjana Pokorny's detailed report will follow in the early afternoon. By the way, if you want to take a look: The live stream with Anna Markfort and Tobias Schadewaldt was broadcast on ZDF from 4am. They provided their usual excellent commentary on the women's 470 race in fresh conditions, including gripping slow-motion studies. Well worth it! Click here for the recording (please click!).
