Thanks to a new sponsor, the organisers are upgrading. Selected yachts are equipped with cameras, the films are available online at YACHT

The German manufacturer of high-quality binoculars and cameras, Minox, is extending its involvement in the North Sea Week and will lend its name to the feeder regatta: Minox Cuxhaven-Helgoland.

As part of the sponsorship programme, selected yachts will be equipped with a video camera. The footage will be edited into video clips that will be published here. Sailors can also borrow Minox binoculars for testing.

Regatta teams can demonstrate their navigational/tactical expertise in this regatta in particular. Experience and good nautical knowledge of the currents and depths in the Elbe estuary and the German Bight are a real competitive advantage in this area. Skippers and crew should pay particular attention to commercial shipping, as the Elbe is very busy. Attention is also required in the German Bight. It has the highest density of shipping traffic in Europe. So "safety first".

New since 2011: The Green-White-Red Ribbon of the North Sea Week is awarded to the fastest boat by time sailed in the feeder regattas from the Jade, Weser, Elbe and Hallig Hooge.
