The German mini shooting star is up for the title of the British "Seahorse International Sailing Magazine" in December. Voting information

Melwin Fink's stage win in the series boats has attracted international attention: This is underlined by the fact that the British sailing magazine "Seahorse International Sailing" for the "Sailor of the Month" vote. Every month, readers can vote for one of two exceptional sailors on the online platform of the same name. Melwin Fink's nomination is for December.

The Seahorse editorial team writes about the 19-year-old skipper of the Pogo 3 "SignForCom":

"You'll be hearing a lot more about this young chap. We suspect that his brilliant win on the first leg of the Mini-Transat, when he sailed on despite the race organisers warning of wind speeds of 60-80 knots, is just the beginning. Fink is only 19 years old, but when he later talked about his decision to sail on, it was clear that he had analysed the weather conditions and then made the right decision on how to avoid the storm and defend his lead at the same time."

In addition to Fink, the Italian professional sailor Francesca Clapchic is also up for election. She recently launched an initiative to promote women in the Persico 69F foiling class.

If you would like to vote, simply follow this link to "Seahorse Magazine" (click). Nominations for other sailors can also be submitted there, who will then be up for election in the coming months.

Past winners include Jean Le Cam as the hero of the Vendée Globe in January 2021 and the shooting star in Class 40 Ian Lipinski, who was voted the winner by "Seahorse" readers in September 2020. To the complete "Hall of fame" including a short presentation of the elected winners click here (kick).

The "Seahorse International Sailing Magazine" reports monthly on regatta and performance sailing around the world. It is also the official magazine of the British Royal Ocean Racing Club, which organises the Fastnet Race, among others.
