One focus of the current issue of YACHT is the test of the Oceanis 52, a 16-metre cruiser with astonishingly good sailing characteristics. The large cruising yacht from Bénéteau combines performance and comfort in an impressive way. Under the motto "Length runs!", we reveal in the test report what the new boat can really do. The cruiser was obviously developed with the aim of not only enabling comfortable cruising, but also offering appealing sailing performance - a combination that is not always a given with larger cruising yachts.
In contrast to this is the test of the JPK 1050, which can easily be described as a class shocker. This yacht is specially designed for regatta sailors who want to win big races with a small crew. The test report examines how the single and double-handed yacht with its impressive sailing power is supposed to outperform the IRC competition. So while the Oceanis 52 stands for comfortable cruising with good sailing characteristics, the JPK 1050 represents the thoroughbred regatta sailor with a focus on maximum performance.
Another focus of this issue is the preview of boot Düsseldorf, which opens its doors from 17 to 25 January. The editorial team reveals what visitors to the world's largest indoor water sports exhibition should not miss. The trade fair presentation includes a detailed hall plan showing what can be seen where this year, as well as highlights of the awards presented, projects showcased and forums held. Visitors to the show will find the diary particularly useful, which lists all the dates, times and speakers for the specialist presentations at the YACHT stand.
In addition, 20 exciting new products will be presented, which will be on show for the first time at boot Düsseldorf. The trade fair thus offers a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in yacht building and gives sailors the opportunity to find out about the latest trends. The spectrum of boats on show ranges from small daysailers to luxurious cruisers.
A comprehensive Denmark special is another focus of this issue. We devote several articles to the land of Blue Tooth's heirs. After all, many Baltic Sea sailors are regularly drawn to Denmark. Our neighbouring country is not only 'hyggelig', but also steeped in history and multifaceted. The special begins with a gallery of fascinating images by sailing photographer Nico Krauss, showing impressions from the Danish South Sea to Skagen.
YACHT author Steffi von Wolff writes about her love for the neighbouring country in an essay, while a detailed cruising guide for the Samsø Belt presents harbours, places and sights worth seeing. Sailors interested in history will get their money's worth with an article on the secrets of Viking boats. The Denmark Special thus offers both practical information for your next trip as well as cultural and historical background information that can enrich your sailing experience in Danish waters.
In addition to the tests and reports, YACHT 3/2026 also offers practical knowledge for skippers. In the "On-board practice" section, tricks and tips for mooring in the box are presented - both forwards and backwards. The "Skippers Magazine" explains what you should look out for when buying a boat in order to recognise whether the engine is in good working order. This engine check should be of particular interest to prospective boat owners, but not only them.
The current issue of YACHT also offers a variety of other interesting topics:
