The Netherlands offers sailors a remarkable variety within a short distance. Sheltered inland waters, the open North Sea and the Wadden Sea lie close together. The YACHT editorial team went on a tour around North Holland and got to know the neighbouring country from all sides.
In addition to the detailed travel report, the Netherlands special provides information about innovations on inland waterways, the coast and the islands. Particularly worth reading is the report on old flat-bottomed ships that compete against each other in regattas. When these traditional ships race against each other, it becomes spectacular.
Navigation rules for northern Sardinia, information on the Red Sand lighthouse and details on waterway tolls in Lower Saxony complete the travel section.
The Chinese online mail order company Temu attracts customers with extremely favourable prices for boating equipment. But how good are the fittings, ropes and other items really? The YACHT editorial team ordered various products and subjected them to a thorough practical test.
The report shows which items are worth saving money on and where sailors are better off buying branded goods. The test results are differentiated and provide specific purchase recommendations.
In addition to the Temu test, the editorial team presents chart plotters, a leather coat for the steering wheel, boat hooks and a windproof sailing jumper. In the pantry section, there is a recipe for homemade tomato pesto, a foldable cool box is presented and a practical Ikea picnic set is tested.
With the RC, the French shipyard Pogo Structures presents an uncompromising offshore racer. The boat is consistently designed for regatta sailing and dispenses with any comfort that does not serve performance. YACHT has extensively tested the radical racer and compared it with the competition. The question was whether the Pogo RC has what it takes to be a winner.
The test looks at the construction, the sailing characteristics in various conditions and the handling on board. The design is aimed at maximum speed in offshore regattas. The detailed test report with all relevant data and impressions from the water shows how the boat compares with other performance cruisers.
Peter Norlin knew how to design beautiful and fast boats like no other. The Swedish designer influenced entire generations of sailors with his designs. Yachts designed by Norlin are still in demand and appreciated today. YACHT honours the master of his trade with a detailed review of his work.
Far older is the International 110, a canoe stern keel dinghy built well over 80 years ago. This special boat is sailed ambitiously, especially on the US west coast. YACHT was on site and visited the class.
Germany's largest in-water boat show is just around the corner. The Ancora Yacht Festival presents premieres and offers an extensive programme for sailors. YACHT presents the most important innovations that will be on show at the festival. The article provides an overview of the participating shipyards, the models on show and the supporting programme.
Last but not least: YACHT is organising a readers' photo competition. Sailors can submit their best shots and win great prizes. Whether landscape shots, action photos or atmospheric images - all genres are welcome. The conditions of entry and details of the prizes can be found in the magazine. A jury of photographers and editors will select the best entries at the end of the season. The winning photos will then be published in the autumn.
The YACHT 10/2026 is now available at newsagents and newsagents, and will soon be available in the Delius Klasing App ready for download. Or you can simply order them directly here...
