Updating the Top 200 list is no routine task, but a true labour of precision. My colleagues Sören Gehlhaus and Uske Berndt have spent months researching, contacting shipyards and meticulously verifying data – an immense amount of work. The result shows that 23 new one-off yachts between 78 and 134 metres have entered the rankings. Ten of these exceed the 100-metre mark (!), and six were built in the Netherlands. Lürssen delivered six newbuilds within a single year. More than ever before, and with a total length of an incredible 654 metres. Furthermore, the 80-metre segment is booming, and deliveries from Turkish shipyards are growing steadily. Geopolitical upheavals are also leaving their mark on the list.
At 118.8 metres, ‘Breakthrough’ may only come in at number 38 in the rankings, but the charter rate for this Feadship vessel is set to break records. Edmiston is chartering out the hydrogen-powered yacht, commissioned by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, for 3.5 million euros a week – excluding APA and crew tips, of course. The RWD design was sold last autumn for the astronomical sum of 570 million euros – according to industry gossip, to the Canadian former professional ice hockey player Patrick Dovigni. We take you on a tour of the five decks of this gigayacht, which is packed with technical innovations, and reveal what charter guests can expect.
Hardly any other brand possesses this magical allure: Riva. For decades, the name from Sarnico has been synonymous with elegance, passion and the pure feeling of freedom on the water. Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, Sean Connery – Hollywood’s crème de la crème were photographed on Riva’s iconic mahogany boats, turning the brand into a legend – far beyond the world of water sports. Today, Riva is writing a new chapter with the 54Metri. This aluminium displacement yacht is the largest yacht the long-established company has ever built. We visited this floating marvel on the Amalfi Coast.
