Gustaf Axel Estlander, 1876-1930
With his extreme constructions, the magician from Finland achieved what no one else could from the archipelago formula

If there had been passing lanes in his day, the metaphor of living on them would have been a perfect fit for Estlander's life. He caught the sailing bug as a teenager and dedicated a large part of his life to it from then on. After studying architecture, the Finn decided to design not only houses but also yachts, and he soon specialised completely in this field. Estlander biographer Magnus Swahn reports on his successes in this field.
