The anchor fitting on our First 40CR was somewhat weak and bent after a short time. As a result, the anchor could jump off the anchor roller. We also lacked a good attachment point for the Code Zero; the already bent fitting was out of the question. To solve both deficits, we had a new fitting made. On the port side, a U-profile with rollers and a bracket at the front guides the anchor. An L-profile is bolted to the starboard side. Both stainless steel parts are connected at the front with a cross plate, on which an eye is welded to attach the Code Zero furling system. The bow fitting for the forestay between the two profiles has remained unchanged. A water stay consisting of a large shroud tensioner absorbs the tensile forces of the code sail, but can also absorb the compressive forces of the anchor chain.
