After two years in office, Ulrich W. Ellerbeck - surprisingly for outsiders - resigns as Chairman of the Kiel Yacht Club

According to the club, 61-year-old Ellerbeck has informed the board and members of his decision in a letter. According to the letter, irreconcilable differences of opinion on the board were the reason for this step.

Ellerbeck's deputy Alexander Eck commented on a possible succession plan: "This will take place calmly over the next few weeks. There is no reason to look frantically to the left or right now, as the club is fully represented by the executive board."

The Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC) is one of the oldest and largest sailing clubs in Germany and co-hosts numerous major regattas, including Kieler Woche. Former bank director Ulrich W. Ellerbeck had been the KYC's chairman since March 2012. Under his chairmanship, the club was economically consolidated and the modernisation of the training fleet was driven forward.
