Susann Beucke: I was born in Kiel and am naturally delighted to be back home. On the other hand, I want my campaign, which mostly takes place in France, to be present in Germany and for people to see me and my boat. That's why I decided to bring the boat here and have a stand at Kieler Woche.
The boat is moored at the Blücherbrücke directly in front of the state parliament in Kiel, where my stand is also located. There you can get to know the team, clothing of our campaign "This Race is Female" buy and also win something, we have really prepared a lot for the visitors!
The first one must have been around 2006, I wasn't there a few times - so I will have sailed in about twelve editions. But what's much more special is that all the important things always happened in Kiel. Among other things, I became European champion here, and this is also where we got our Olympic ticket. Everything important always happens in Kiel, so I'm even happier to be here this summer.
The boats have developed tremendously, visually the 49er FX with the black sails no longer has much to do with the old one. But of course I know everyone here and have only ever been out to watch them train. You can tell that the Olympic heart is definitely still beating very, very high.
I will be competing in the Solitaire du Figaro. I'll also be taking part in the whole Figaro racing circuit in France, where the campaign takes place, because that's where the elite of ocean sailing is based. I've been in the Figaro for about a year and will certainly leave a few more boats behind me than last year, but there won't be any results like in the 49er FX. That would be bad if it were, because the level wouldn't be high enough.
Yes, I want to take part in the Vendée Globe 2028. There is still a long way to go with many small steps. This Kiel Week and the step of being in the Figaro are important milestones on the way there.
