The first autumn fair with Corona editions started on Saturday at Lake Constance. Exhibitors and trade fair organisers are satisfied so far. Still open until Sunday

The opening of the first autumn boat show that was not cancelled was eagerly awaited. Saturday was the day - and after the first weekend, the organisers of Interboot in Friedrichshafen are now drawing a positive first balance.

"It was a really good weekend," says a delighted Dirk Kreidenweiß, Interboot Project Manager. "There's a good atmosphere among the exhibitors, almost like a close-knit community. And above all, we can see that things are going well, even if it's all new territory. This is a basis that we and the exhibitors can build on in the coming days."

This is confirmed by Dennis Hennevanger, owner of Saffier Yachts, among others:

"We are very satisfied with the first two days of the trade fair. Overall, it was a good start to Interboot."

With around 12,500 visitors on the first two days of the fair, the number was lower than in previous years, but the organisers were prepared for this. Tickets can only be purchased online this year, there is no box office on site.

According to Kreidenweiß, the "new normality of Interboot" also includes the obligation to wear a mask in the exhibition halls. It can be removed on the open-air site and when attending lectures, as well as during counselling sessions, as long as social distancing is maintained.

Everyone who enters the exhibition centre is required to register. "From bread roll suppliers to exhibitors, we know who is here," explains Dirk Kreidenweiß. "We have also provided hectolitres of disinfectant." Walkways have been widened and the air exchange in the exhibition halls has been improved. Visitors would heed the new rules.

The trade fair organiser reports that the great tension has now disappeared for the time being. It was not only enormous because it was unclear how the trade fair would run with all the corona requirements and how it would be received by visitors. But also because both the trade fair landscape and the authorities are keeping a watchful eye on the events at Lake Constance, which will continue until next Sunday.

From 19 to 27 September 2020, Interboot will offer numerous lectures, seminars and workshops. Practical tips will also be available at the trailer training in the outdoor area West. Visual highlights include the all-day film screenings in the Beach Cinema in Hall A5 and the Ocean Film Tour on Thursday, 24 September at 18:30. www.interboot.de
