It is the largest tourism project in the region: in Barth, the "gateway to Fischland Darß and Zingst", a large holiday complex with a wellness area, restaurants and 240 flats is being built. The idea is for holidaymakers to be able to moor and unmoor their own boat right on the doorstep. The entire complex is planned in such a way that each of the 11 new buildings "at the sports boat harbour" is located directly on the water. To achieve this, 32,000 cubic metres of earth were excavated. The basin will be flooded in March and the floating dock will then be built.
Originally, the moorings were to be sold with the holiday flats and only be available to the owners and holiday guests. However, the town of Barth will now operate the new floating dock. Harbour master Stephan Wenke has already received several enquiries for permanent berths. He is also planning 15-20 guest berths at the second jetty, but only for boats up to 10 metres in length. "It's all quite cramped here between the buildings," explains Wenke. "For larger yachts, however, we have planned a jetty with 10 berths directly in front of the entrance to the new harbour basin."
Barth is home to the largest harbour in the Bodden waters of Fischland-Darß-Zingst. For many sailors and water sports enthusiasts, it is the ideal starting point for a trip to the Bodden waters or the Baltic Sea. The marina is well equipped, offers direct access to the scenic Bodden waters and protection from the rougher conditions of the open Baltic Sea. Historic sailing boats can often be found in the town harbour and passenger ships depart for Zingst and Hiddensee. In July, the Barth Sailing and Harbour Days traditionally take place here with the shipyard days and numerous regattas. The town of Barth offers historical maritime flair and many tourist attractions. Tourists are mainly drawn here by the picturesque surroundings and the rich culture. Nearby sights such as the Vineta Museum or the brick Gothic architecture of the local churches invite you to explore. The Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park with its diverse flora and fauna is also in the immediate vicinity and offers unique nature experiences.
