The water sports season in Friesland is open, and it starts with a new app. It is appropriately called "Watersport App" and can be found free of charge in the respective operating system stores. Also in the Browser users can access the information, but the opening function is not possible in this way; this is only possible via the app and only if you authorise access to your own location. This is to avoid operating errors: Opening is only possible if you are 250 metres away from the bridge. Different levels of information can be selected in the app. Tapping on bridges, for example, provides information on all bridges. Fixed bridges are grey, movable ones are blue. Those with a yellow circle can be controlled remotely using the app. There are currently 16 of them, but there will be up to 40 in the future.

You can also enter a planned route and receive information about water sports-related topics along the way: harbours, locks, bridges, recharging stations for electric boats, sewage pump-out stations and current shipping information. Also interesting: Safety-relevant information can be called up for busy junctions.
