In times of an acute shortage of berths, there is finally some good news: at Schwedenschanze in Stralsund, directly on the shore behind the University of Applied Sciences, the hydraulic engineering of a new marina with 120 berths has recently been completed. The harbour, including jetties and piles, has been approved by the authorities and the supply columns have already been connected. Sanitary containers have also been set up as a temporary solution.
The extensive land development with a major housing project and the then permanent sanitary facilities will start in the course of the year. The harbour is attractively situated in the further shore of the Citymarina Stralsund to the west. It is around 1.5 kilometres to the city by boat. The harbour is operated by the same private company that runs the Citymarina. For this reason, the harbour will also be looked after by the harbour master this season, after which a payment machine solution is planned for day guests. Enquiries about day or permanent berths can be made here.
The first berths have already been allocated, but Mathias Lenz, Managing Director of the operating company, says that the marina will not be fully occupied this year. "We still need some space for work, which is why we are happy to accept enquiries and allocate further berths, but we won't be using the harbour to full capacity." The marina will not be fully operational until 2023.
Nevertheless, if you are still desperately looking for a place for your boat, this is a good place to stay close to the attractive Hanseatic city. Although the harbour is not quite as central as the Citymarina, the path along the shore to the city is a pleasant walk or a short bike ride.
