Late summer is one of the best times for a sailing holiday on the waters of southern Germany. Especially as there is so much on offer in the region

Museums and adventure parks, botanical gardens, churches and monasteries, fruit and wine festivals or music festivals - it's high season around Lake Constance from late summer until well into autumn. At least on land; on the lake itself and especially in the harbours, things are gradually much quieter from the end of August/beginning of September than they are in the middle of the high season.

This is exactly what sailors can take advantage of. Without having to worry about having enough moorings, you can easily sail to smaller places. And if one or two strong winds prevent you from heading out onto the lake, you are guaranteed not to get bored with all the variety on land. There is a programme everywhere, for young and old, for the adventurous and those interested in culture.

We have compiled 25 event highlights on Lake Constance that you shouldn't miss. You can now read about them in the new YACHT (issue 18/2019, available now in well-stocked newsagents and as a Digital edition available).
