Guests will not be able to sail into the small harbour of Timmendorf on the island of Poel for the next two weeks: new dolphins are being installed. The construction work is planned for the period from 16 May to 3 June - so the harbour should be accessible again for the Whitsun cruise.
The dolphins are not only being replaced, but some are also being moved. "The ships are getting bigger and bigger, and we want to offer them space too, so we are now building four larger boxes," explains harbour master Sandra Uhde. Previously, the boxes were a maximum of four metres wide, but soon they will be up to five metres. In addition to the many permanent berth holders, there will also be space for around 25 guest berth holders. But beware: the draught must not exceed 1.80 metres this season.
With a sandy beach to the north and impressive cliffs to the south, the small fishing and pilot harbour is popular with sailors who love peace and nature. It is also a perfect stopover on the long trip to Rügen or Sweden. Those who had firmly planned Timmendorf for the trip on Ascension Day can alternatively head to Boltenhagen or anchor: in easterly winds south of the harbour, in westerly winds in the Wohlenberger Wiek.
By the way: In the next issue of Yacht (11/2022, on newsstands from 18 May) you can read a large Baltic Sea special. In it, the editorial crew describe their favourite ports on the German Baltic coast. Timmendorf on Poel is also included.
