Three northern clubs lead the table of the 1st Bundesliga after the third sailing weekend of the season: OneKiel is the new league leader ahead of Flensburger Segel-Club (FSC) and Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV), which narrowly won the final sprint on Sunday, just one point ahead of OneKiel. However, OneKiel's second place at home was enough to overtake Flensburger Segel-Club (FSC) at the top of the table. With its victory over Kiel, NRV moved up to third place in the table behind Flensburg, who finished fourth on the Fjord. This means that the North has a firm grip on the upper house of the 1st German Sailing League at the halfway point of the season. The team from Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen led by helmsman Jan Seekamp secured third place on the podium ahead of Kiel and is in fourth place in the table.

At the top of the table, OneKiel (7 points) and the FSC (8 points) have already established a good lead after three of six first division matches. The podium places in Kiel were only decided in the final races. It was the first victory of the season for the Schadewaldt quartet from the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein. The record champions from the Hamburg Alster had started the season moderately by their standards with two eighth places in Überlingen and Hamburg, but have now reduced their gap to the top of the table to ten points with their latest success. "That was a heart-stopping final. What a last race!" said Tobias Schadewaldt after the races. "Sailing with this crew today in imperial conditions was a lot of fun. We are of course happy to have won." Schadewaldt sailed with Gesa Höpcke, Niklas von Meyerinck and Florian Weser.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Bay of Kiel presented itself from its best side with winds of up to 18 knots and made for beaming faces among the sailors. At the Olympic Centre in Kiel-Schilksee and above all on the courses in the bay, the 36 first and second division clubs experienced the best sailing conditions so far in this light wind season. The first division clubs were able to complete a total of 39 races; that was 13 for each club.

The Düsseldorfer Yachtclub from North Rhine-Westphalia secured its second win in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga, extending its lead in the standings. The crew with helmsman Jan-Philipp Hofmann, Felix Brockerhoff, Max Schall and Timon Treichel impressed with a whopping six race wins. Second place in Kiel was secured by the Seglervereinigung 1903 from Berlin ahead of the Hamburger Segel-Club. At the top of the second division table, Düsseldorfer Yachtclub now has a nine-point lead over Hamburger Segel-Club, with Akademischer Segel-Verein Warnemünde in third place five points behind. The league weekend was organised by TSV Schilksee, Segler-Vereinigung Kiel and Segelclub Baltic. In three weeks' time, the 18 first division clubs will meet again on the Wannsee at the Berliner Yacht-Club from 6 to 8 August for the next matches.

Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
