After winning the club championship, the Bundesliga team from the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein also won the cup - a hair's breadth ahead of the Potsdamer Yacht-Club

0.5 points were enough for the German champions to win the double: the crew of the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein won the German Sailing League Cup against the Potsdam Yacht Club by such a narrow margin. The crew line-up for the trophy battle on the Outer Alster showed just how broadly based the Hamburg winners are in their club - the largest in Germany: Juliane Adelssen and John Körtner were two sailors making their first appearances of the season, but that couldn't stop the NRV crew led by experienced helmsman Tobi Schadewaldt and tactician Johann Kohlhoff from winning. Schadewaldt said: "After our title in the German Sailing League, we have now also won the cup. What an amazing weekend!"

Frederick Eichhorst, Leonie Eichhorst, Paul Pox and Mike Przybyl were successful for the Potsdamer Yacht-Club, narrowly missing out on victory with the highest average speed sailed over a total of 36 races. Kim Brandt, Niklas Reisenauer, Janne Schult and Ingo Hüter steered the Lübeck Sailing Club to third place on the podium. For the Lübeck team, the strong performance in the neighbouring Hanseatic city meant that they retained their place in the 2nd Bundesliga - and the jubilation was correspondingly great. The Bochholter Yacht-Club, the Segel-Club Ville and the Westfälischer Yachtclub were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.

At the end of the exciting races over three cup days, the 18 teams for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga 2019 have been finalised. The sixth season of the still young sailing league is over. Further information and all results are available here.

Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
