Lake Constance is a picture-book sailing area. Everyone who knows it knows that. Surrounded by magnificent scenery, sailing in the border triangle is excellent. Most of the time anyway. On this Bundesliga weekend, the wind didn't want to play along. With persistence and patience, the Bundesliga organisers and the race committee of the host Constance Yacht Club managed to wrestle a short programme out of the flat conditions, at the end of which the Chiemsee Yacht Club won the showdown of the first division teams.

"On Friday, we managed to realise six flights per club in both leagues, so that the match day can be included in the classification," said Oliver Schwall with satisfaction after challenging conditions. "The race committee from the Konstanzer Yacht-Club did a great job and reacted to every breeze on the first day to maximise the number of flights."
On the second of the classic three league sailing days of each regatta, it was so calm that the sailors passed the time by wakeboarding. The spacious grounds of the Constance Yacht Club provided an opportunity to relax and socialise. "The supporting programme that the Konstanz Yacht Club put together was perfect compensation for the lull," said Oliver Schwall, who was delighted with the league participants. "Everyone had a great weekend, but would have liked to have sailed more."
We are still a very young team and have now won a matchday for the first time" (Bastian Henning)
The third and final day of racing got off to a promising start on Sunday with weak but constant winds. The majority of the fleet were able to complete a seventh round before the wind fell back into a sluggish summer doldrums. The teams that were unable to complete their seventh flight were awarded the average points of the results they had achieved up to that point. This is why the results list for Constance now shows odd numbers of points with decimal places.
Florian Krauß and his crew took the top spot on the podium for the Chiemsee Yacht Club (CYC). Second place went to Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen with league ace Jan Seekamp at the tiller, ahead of Münchner Yacht-Club (MYC) with Xaver Huber and his team. "We are mega-happy to have won the event. We are still a very young team and have now won a match day for the first time, let's see what happens next," said Bastian Henning from Chiemsee Yacht Club.
With third place on Lake Constance, the Münchner Yacht-Club was able to significantly strengthen its position as league leader at the halfway point of the Bundesliga. With just a dozen points in the league account, the team from the Bavarian capital has gained a veritable lead over the record winners from the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein von der Alster. After finishing eleventh on Lake Constance, the Hamburg team are in second place in the table with 23 points.
Third in the table is the Segel- und Motorboot Club Überlingen (28 points), which will host the upcoming league event at the beginning of October. At the bottom of the table is Hamburger Segel-Club (HSC) with 57 points, which, like the teams from Flensburger Segel-Club (50 points) and Konstanzer Yacht-Club (54 points) in 16th and 17th place, will have to sail against the threat of relegation on the two remaining league weekends.
In the 2nd German Sailing League, the Kieler Yacht-Club was able to beat the second-placed Berliner Klub am Rupenhorn by a very narrow margin. SC Ville sailed to third place. Kieler Yacht-Club leads the table ahead of Joersfelder Segel-Club and Segelvereinigung Itzehoe with Christian Soyka at the helm.
"We set out from the outset to give 110 per cent. But it was a nerve-wracking weekend with a happy ending for us," said Niklas Schubert from Kieler Yacht-Club. Together with the Joersfelder, the Kielers have justified hopes of promotion to the upper echelons of German league sailing ahead of the last two match days of the season. The fifth summit of the German Sailing League will also take place on Lake Constance from 6 to 8 October. It will be hosted by the Überlingen Sailing and Motorboat Club.
